The University of Alabama School of Dentistry is the public dental school located at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama, United States. The dental school was founded in 1948.

PBL is great if you have a solid foundation of the basic and biomedical sciences, especially physiology and anatomy, but it can be a challenge for those who don’t feel as confident in these subjects.

One of the great things that came with this curriculum change is that all the didactic lectures are now integrated across all biomedical science courses by using a systems-based approach.

The best thing about attending UCLA School of Dentistry is the Honors/Pass/Fail grading system.

The pass / no pass system is one of my favorite things about this school. It helps eliminate competition between classmates, and everyone is willing to help each other out.

There is a false reputation that circulates regarding UOP and specializing. A lot of people think that UOP only wants to produce general dentists. That is just not true.

I wish I would have known that I’d be taking a majority of my classes online (even pre-coronavirus).

The school provides the name and contact information but it’s the responsibility of the student to get the patient in the chair. In other words, there is no front desk staff.

Honestly, if you wanted to go straight into private practice as a general dentist, this might not be the program for you.

Howard simulates multiple mock boards a year to help us prepare for the actual boards. On these days we take a full length board exam to help us prepare for the real thing.

Many students at LECOM get their third and fourth-year competencies done in their third year alone.

All dental schools are expensive, but at NSU sometimes random fees pop up that we were not aware of.

One thing I wish was clearer before attending UFCD is that everything is shared space. Sim lab is shared not only by D1 & D2 students, but also with CE courses on the weekends and faculty training.

50% of a class is late in graduating or moving on to the next year, that indicates a problem that is not the students’ fault.

We are constantly working with cutting-edge technology. For example, in clinic as students we get to laser gums and tissue in the mouth, design same-day crowns with CAD/CAM, and place implants ourselves.

Professors are very accommodating in our didactic coursework. They are willing to work with each class to schedule exams in coordination with other courses, so as to avoid having too many exams back to back.

UIC’s location close to downtown Chicago has many benefits as well. Our program has countless opportunities to volunteer at clinic’s and schools around the city in several different communities.

There are many instances of flawed communication at IUSD.

4th year is awesome because we basically choose which kind of experiences/procedures we want. You can do as little or as much as you want your for 4th year, kind of like owning your own practice.

Students are taught the conventional and digital techniques side-by-side from day one.

If you ever get a grade that you disagree with, they are very open at having another faculty member grade your project, which is huge if you care about your GPA.

My operative professor would stay at school helping students after hours multiple nights a week for an entire semester, sometimes until 11pm.

UNE has a Pass/Fail curriculum with passing set at 70%.

Another criticism is the flux of in-state tuition. In the past, UMSOD was very willing to help students apply for and receive in-state status.

Our school is high tech, with Cerec machines, Omnicams, surgical guides, intraoral cameras, and digital implant planning.

HSDM also has a strong commitment to research and each student must complete a scholarly project before graduating.

We put a big emphasis on health and wellness, including a wellness course first year, guided meditations, yoga classes on some lunch breaks, and health tips.

This new curriculum serves to be more time-efficient for faculty and students in and out of the classroom.

During your D4 year, students are sent on three four-week (12 weeks total) external rotations. You are given a rental car and placed in a hotel.

There is a lack of leadership in the school as we haven’t had a consistent dean for the past four years.

We also don’t have many residency programs (only OMS & pedo), so students get to perform procedures that most schools refer to the residents.

Affinia takes care of filling your chair with patients, so you can focus on the procedures. If you show up and do your job, you can finish most, if not all, of you clinical requirements fairly quickly.

The best part about UMKC dental school is the renovated pre-clinical laboratory and the early exposure to clinic.

A "C" grade is considered a 77% anything below that is a D. This is something a lot of people tend to struggle with, especially when given a 50 question exam on over 1700 slides.

The small class size allows us to receive timely, dedicated attention and assistance from faculty at any time. It also makes it easier to developing personal connections with faculty.

One of the hardest things about UNLV is the uneven workloads from semester to semester. The first semester is extremely busy and difficult.

During the first year of school, classes are very similar to those taken by the first-year medical students and many of the professors are the same; however, our classes are not as in-depth and focus on what is more relevant to the dental field.

The vast majority of Columbia graduates go on to specialty programs with some students going into GPRs. This is something Columbia is proud of; it came up multiple times during my interview.

The worst thing about NYU is its administrative and didactic disorganization. This disorganization has become increasingly frustrating in recent years.

You will read somewhere that Stony Brook is Pass/Fail. This is partly true, but things have changed over the years and I do not necessarily think that they do a good job of informing applicants.

We were exposed to 3D scanning in the first week of the fall semester which we will use more when we move to clinic. In addition, the Sim Lab itself is open from 8 A.M to midnight every day.

The grading system at UB is another downside.

The 4th year feels like a “built-in-residency” program.

The school also has a very large endowment for a dental school, and there are quite a few scholarships provided by the DFNC. Currently, 1 out of every 3 students receives a scholarship, and this number is on the rise.

Policies have been a mess for the 2019-20 year, most likely due to the recent change in administration.

The student facilities are unbelievable. There are 6 or 7 different student gyms you can choose from, huge turf fields to do whatever on, and Olympic pools. If you are active, love to go out, play sports, or be social, OSU is a great school.

Our school sets up a mentorship program where you are set up with a mentor that is currently working as a dentist in the community.

OHSU just hired a new Dean of Academic Affairs and he has been very strict as far as attendance and other matters go. To the point where I forgot to sign the role one day and didn’t find out until the end of the term that I failed the class because of this

You’ll end up having a test almost every other week, which is mentally exhausting.

The structure of our lab courses is difficult in the sense that you have a project to hand in every week, and not a lot of time to complete it in class.

I feel like we don’t have enough space to study inside the dental school; we have a student lounge in the dental school, which is very small, but we do not have a study area, and we do not have a library.

We are blessed to have some of the world’s best digital dentists on our faculty.

Meharry prides itself on its consistent willingness to give back, especially to underserved communities. Students get community service opportunity emails so frequently you could compare it to spam mail!

UT’s approach on testing is another awesome thing about the school. Rather than taking separate tests in each subject, UT has a combined test taking system.

Just simply saying you are a graduate from Texas A&M will help you in the long run because they have a reputation of creating good clinicians and dentists.

Due to our patient population, faculty, and extensive graduate programs at the school, you are exposed to and allowed to participate in some complex and interesting cases even as a dental student.

There is now a digital dentistry course where students work with faculty to learn how to scan, design, and mill crowns, so that we can become familiar with digital technology.

The amount of time off you have as a student at Roseman sometimes makes you feel like you're not even in graduate school. For some this is not a bad thing. Others find it frustrating as because you are paying a lot of tuition to have down time.

There are 50 students or less in each graduating class, so it is easy to become close friends with everyone. Also, we aren’t ranked.

We pick up a handpiece just a couple weeks into school and get plenty of practice and lab time.

However, it was really just poorly organized shadowing experience and first year's ended up feeling it was a nothing more than a nuisance.

We have high clinical requirements, but they are so high it can be hard to find enough patients to fill them.

Recently, the school has been short-staffed for faculty in the simulation lab and clinic. As a result, faculty members have been stretched pretty thin.
