Reviews

3 Review quotes:

"The school is still not accredited yet, but it should be by the end of this year after they graduate their first class."
"We were exposed to 3D scanning in the first week of the fall semester which we will use more when we move to clinic. In addition, the Sim Lab itself is open from 8 A.M to midnight every day, so you never have to worry about not having enough time to practice."
"As mentioned before, the school follows the Jewish auspices, so almost 70% of our current D1 class are Jewish. There are a good number of students from different backgrounds (Asians, Middle eastern, Desi); however, the majority are Jewish."

What are the best things about attending Touro College of Dental Medicine at New York Medical College?

Summer semester of the first year: The first year at TCDM starts at the beginning of July with a one-month Summer semester. I found this semester extremely helpful as it was a great transition for my classmates and I. The best thing is that we started sim lab (also known as preclinic) from day one, focusing mainly on teeth waxing. By the end of the Summer semester, we were extremely familiar with the sim lab and dental equipment. It also allowed us to meet and build relationships with our professors, with whom we spend the next year during our operative dentistry. We also started one of the hardest basic science classes, biochemistry. The school realized that this class is extremely dense and difficult, so they divided it among the Summer and first half of the fall semester, which helped tremendously.

What are the worst things about attending Touro College of Dental Medicine at New York Medical College?

No cafeteria in the dental building: One thing that all Touro Dental students will agree is the worst thing about the school is that there is currently no cafeteria in the dental school. You must go to the medical school for the cafeteria, which is about a 7-10 minute walk. Plus that cafeteria is only open till around 3PM. Other than that, there aren’t many other places around campus to get food from.

What do students need to know/what do you wish you knew before attending Touro College of Dental Medicine at New York Medical College?

I think I made a good decision by choosing TCDM. I feel confident in my education and feel I am building good hand skills. Of course, there are few things I don’t like, but a few of them are opinions that others may disagree with. I wish I was more aware about the rent prices and living expenses in NY. Other than that I am happy with my decision to attend TCDM.
