Reviews

3 Review quotes:

"One thing I wish was clearer before attending UFCD is that everything is shared space. Sim lab is shared not only by D1 & D2 students, but also with CE courses on the weekends and faculty training."
"There is a general "work hard, play hard" mentality at the school which encourages students to also carve out time for socializing and extracurricular activities."
"The workstations also need constant maintenance. Many times, workstations break down in the middle of a procedure and you have to set up a whole new chair to finish a procedure on a patient."

What are the best things about attending University of Florida College of Dentistry (UFCD)?

UFCD is located in the small college town of Gainesville, FL. The weather is your typical year-round sunny and hot with rainy summers. The town has many hiking trails at Payne’s Prairie, lakes for water activities, as well as some great local eats and breweries. The school is about 1.5hrs from the closest beach in St. Augustine and is about 2-2.5hrs away from larger cities like Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando.

What are the worst things about attending University of Florida College of Dentistry (UFCD)?

Classes often feel a bit disorganized. Miscommunications about deadlines, exam dates or class content add to the normal stress of attending dental school. Sometimes, particularly while working in the sim lab and pre-clinic, faculty are not well-acquainted with the syllabus of the course or teaching methods of the course director, resulting in instructions in sim lab that differ from what may actually be expected on practical or written exams.

What do students need to know/what do you wish you knew before attending University of Florida College of Dentistry (UFCD)?

No school is perfect; however, I can confidently say that I have found some of the best people to share my dental school experience with at UFCD and that makes all the difference! The family atmosphere that UFCD helps cultivate helps to quell the competitive nature of dental school. I quickly learned to not compare myself to other students because everyone works at their own pace and in different ways. There isn't anything that I have learned after being a student here that makes me regret attending the University of Florida. When I factor in the cost (the cheapest school in Florida), the level of education I’m receiving and the overall learning and social environment that, I would absolutely pick UFCD again.
